About Pi Kappa Alpha

145 Years of Brotherhood and Excellence

Pi Kappa Alpha was founded on Sunday evening, March 1st, 1868 at the University of Virginia by six men: Robertson Howard, Julian Edward Wood, James Benjamin Sclater, Jr., Frederick Southgate Taylor, Littleton Waller Tazewell, and William Alexander.



In the 145 years since its founding, the Pi Kappa Alpha International Fraternity has become the preeminent fraternal organization in North America. Pi Kappa Alpha consistently has the largest average chapter size among all fraternities in North America, and is known to produce members of high esteem, ability, and moral standing.
